Here is the analysis and general trend of green visa perm filings by year. Listed below are the total number of perm application filed by the immigration attorneys on behalf of the employer broken down by year.

There was a slow down in the number of green card visa applications in the year 2007, with year 2009 being the worst with around 38K applications. This corresponds with the weakening economy and generally green card applications are trailing indicators of the job market. 2010 saw a uptake in green card visa activity and about 81412 visa applications were filed in the last calendar year.

Another view of the data would be to see the trend in “approval” or denial rate of these visa applications.

Based on this data, one can conclude that 2006/2007 was the peak in terms of green card filings and the general downward trend since has been reversed. The number of filings are on the rise again, with the improvement in the job market.
